VEX IQ Challenge Slapshot: 2022-2023 Competition Rules

Today I’d like to share with you how to play the new season of VEX IQ.

This competition is called Slapshot, which is a game of shooting discs using VEX IQ. The competition categories are similar to the past and are divided into three types.

  1. 60s Teamwork Challenge match (two teams cooperate within 60 seconds to get the highest score)

  2. Driver Skills Challenge (driver's personal ability takes the highest score)

  3. Programming Skills Challenge (Use automated programs to get the highest score)

There are a total of 45 discs on the field. The robot needs to remove the discs from the release tower , shoot the discs into the scoring area, and touch the stretch area at the end of the game to get bonus points.

Field scoring area

During the competition, the robot cannot cross the fence and touch the props.

Scoring Method

1.

A disc being removed from a dispensing tower . ( 1 point each )

2.

Shoot the disc into the corresponding scoring area and score points according to the number of scoring areas (each gets 1-4 points) .

3.

At the end of the game, each robot that reaches the stretch zone and earns bonus points will receive one additional point for each disc in the scoring zone .

(For example, if the robot successfully touches the 2-point zone of the stretch zone, each disc in the 2-point zone will be given an additional 1 point.)

In accordance with the competition rules, everyone's designed robots and operating methods will be different, but the goal of the competition is to cooperate to get the most points, so communication and cooperation before the competition are the most important.
